forward head hose replacement thru-hull or check valve?

Our IP38/137's forward head sanitation hose is leaking, it needs to be replaced. As a cleaner long-term solution, I'm thinking of installing a new thru-hull up front. Has anyone completed this task here? If yes, where did you put it?

I'm also considering installing a check valve between the heads, but I've heard that these could lead to issues later. Has anyone run one successfully or unsuccessfully? Before diving in, I would appreciate any feedback.

I've seen several IP38/137 owners install a new thru-hall just behind the anchor locker bulkhead, slightly off-center to port or starboard to avoid internal structures.
This location generally offers good access for routing and keeps the discharge well forward.
For the check valve, I know a few people who have had success with a high-quality, full-flow marine bronze or Marelon check valve installed horizontally.
The key seems to be ensuring it's easily accessible for maintenance and inspection.

yep, leaking hose means you need an upgrade. New thru hull is definitely a cleaner solution. On an IP38, finding a good spot forward that's accessible but still clear of other structures is key. Some folks put them just fwd/outboard of the keel or near the chain locker if space allows.

Totally! Starting fresh up there can really change everything. I think putting it forward near the chain locker is a smart move, as long as it's easy to get to.
