I just got a used IP-40 with two AC units running off a small 3500-watt generator and I am thinking about saving fuel by running only one AC through my Prosine 1800 inverter (2900 surge, 1800 continuous). With my 600 amp house battery bank, I could handle the load for a few hours. But I'm wondering will this cause any damage or issues with heat or surges? Any advice would be awesome.

Running 1 AC sounds doable but it may lead to startup surges that I'm not sure how you can control. Maybe just before anything, ensure that your inverter can handle it. Solid plan. Starting off gently should really help manage the load. Just make sure you keep an eye on the inverter's temperature and the battery voltage so you don't accidentally overwork it. By the way, do you have any idea what the startup draw of that AC is? Figuring that out will give you a better sense of how near you are to hitting the limit.
