Thoughts on Island Packet Yachts for offshore cruising

We're just starting our search for a boat that's perfect for ocean cruising, and we've been lookin into a bunch of different brands. But I've noticed that Island Packet doesn't seem to come up as much in discussions about offshore cruisers, and it's got me wondering why that is.

If any of you have expereince with them, I'd love to hear your thoughts. How do they stack up in terms of build quality? What about their handling when the seas get rough? And how comfy are they for long trips? My family is a bit anxious about the idea of long passages, so we're really hoping to find something that's reliable and safe.

I would truly appreciate any honest feedback, whether it's positive or negative. Thanks so much

Island packets don't get hyped as much as some flashier bluewater boats, but that doesn't mean they're not capable, some people just prefer faster or more performance oriented boats, which is probably why they don't dominate the chatter

They are not renowned for speed. I am attracted to the full keel, protected rudder, and actual cabins on the the 38. Uninspectable buried chainplates are a topic of discussion.

Practical Sailor has a review of the 38, I believe.
